Urban Journaling
The bustle of modern life can make it hard to notice the landscape of modern life. We know to take time to appreciate the slow, organic beauty of nature, but we often forget to appreciate the careful design and engineering of cities, neighborhoods, buildings, parks, furniture, and everything else that people build for people's sake. By learning to pay attention to our daily landscape, we can gain greater insights into the way it shapes and is shaped by the people we share it with.
This is a course about observation, attention, curiosity, and wonder, which are fundamental creative skills regardless of medium! We'll be practicing turning our focus on the sensory world and then reflecting our observations on the page. It's not about making the page beautiful, it's about learning to use the page to reflect our experiences.
Course Details
Duration: 4 weeks
Price: $100
Location: varies
Ages 15+
We'll meet once a week for 2-3 hours of instruction per session. You'll also be assigned a gentle 20-minute homework assignment every week.
This includes time and materials for the 4-week duration. All materials provided!
$25 reserves your spot on the course and covers time and materials for session one. Then, if you like the course and want to proceed, you'll be invoiced the remaining $75.

Classes will be held in public spaces across the Tri-Cities, both indoors and outdoors! Every location will be accessible, with bathrooms, paved pathways, shade, and nearby food options available. The course schedule will be announced as the course is booked.
Guardians of teens are welcome to tag along!
Can't get a babysitter? Your kid is welcome to come; let me know ahead of time. I'll pack extra age-appropriate materials so they can play alongside you.
