Family Nature Journaling
The Tri Cities is hot and dry but it's also interesting and beautiful. How often do you learn something new about our landscape just by taking notice of it around you every day? How often does the kid in your life do the same?
Journaling is a practice that grows skills in mindfulness, slowness, focus, attention, self-confidence, curiosity, and wonder in people of all ages; yes, that means seven-year-olds as much as it means 87-year-olds.
This course is about observation and attention, the skills you need to take what you experience and translate it to a page. It is not about showing up with beautiful drawings of the nature in your backyard!
This course is also about deepening the ability for you and the kid in your life to communicate with each other. Translating experiences onto the page puts people young and old at an advantage when trying to communicate experiences to others. That's one of art's main functions!

Price: $100 for two participants, plus $20 per additional participant
Location: Richland, WA
Ages 7+
We'll meet once a week for 2-3 hours of instruction per session. You'll also be assigned a short, gentle homework task to do every week as an individual and as a team!
This includes time and materials for the 4-week duration. All materials provided!
As many adults and as many kids as you'd like can come and learn as a group. Looking for a four-week series of daddy-daughter dates? Great, that'll just be $100. Want to enroll yourself, your partner, and your two kids? That's $140. Hoping to get grandma to come, too? That brings the total up to $160.
$50 reserves your spot on the course and covers time and materials for session one. Then, if you like the course and want to proceed, you'll be invoiced for the rest.
Miss a session? I'll send you a breakdown of our lesson and homework assignment and work with you to get you the materials you'll need.
Signed up and need to cancel? Let me know!
Sessions will mostly be outdoors! Think Howard Amon and Leslie Groves park, Columbia Point, Badger Mountain. Most locations will have paved paths and accessible parking lots, but some might require light hiking on a gentle, unpaved incline. The schedule will be announced as the course is booked.
And remember: adult participation is required!
